Coach Barans began his career in Wisconsin as an assistant to his father and received his first high school head coaching assignment in 1976 at St. Francis De Sales Preparatory.  He became a certified high school umpire and basketball referee officiating games for youth and high school leagues.  Ed held Jr. College Assistant Coaching positions in baseball and basketball before leaving Wisconsin for Texas. 

While in Texas, Coach Barans split his time with the student athletics from the nationally ranked powerhouse Southlake Carroll High School while assisting college and professional athletes at the Southwest Speed and Agility Institute.  Ed has a great appreciation for the 10 years he coached in Texas because of the high level of competition, the great knowledge of the many exceptional coaches and the life-long relationships he made.

Coach Barans moved to Arizona in 2004 and continued his coaching career at Boulder Creek High School.  He was an Assistant Baseball Coach with the Jaguars and a Head Coach for the JAG’s Summer Baseball Program.

In 2010, Ed was offered a great opportunity to develop a baseball program at Anthem Preparatory Academy.  In their first year, Coach Barans’ Anthem Prep Eagles won the Great Hearts League Baseball Championship.  In 2011, Ed was happy to return to basketball when he was offered the Head Coaching position of the AP Eagles High School Team.

Coach Barans has taught athletes of all levels at schools, camps and leagues in Arizona, California, Nevada, Texas and Wisconsin.  Through his passionate pursuit of knowledge he has gained the experience and ability to help athletes achieve their full potential.  Ed has received numerous nationally recognized awards and certifications.  He is currently a certified Arizona Diamondbacks Youth Coach and a Certified Pitching Instructor through the National Pitching Association.  Ed is a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the Arizona Baseball Coaches Association.  Coach Barans is a proud member of the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association.

In 2010 Ed established a training facility in Anthem, Arizona devoted to assisting baseball and softball players of all levels in reaching their goals.  Through lessons, classes and camps, Blast Ball has provided athletes the opportunity to develop their skills in a state of the art facility.  In the first year over 600 athletes from as far away as Puerto Rico have come to Blast Ball and received instruction from Coach Barans.

Coach Barans looks forward to the future, working with the athletes at Anthem Preparatory Academy and Blast Ball for many years to come.
